PREP ENROLMENTS 2021
Bendigo Violet Street Primary School offers a wide range of exceptional educational programs for its students. There is a strong love of community and outdoor spaces here, which provide the children with opportunities they would not find elsewhere.
There is long established cooking and gardening program which promotes sustainability and food awareness. Every student has a weekly session in the garden, with a qualified gardener.
Students explore their individual passions through Investigation Time using the Developmental Curriculum in the early years and an Inquiry Approach in the senior classes.
We have strong Music and Art programs that help form pathways into the Arts, including a choir which regularly performs in the community. We have an extremely beneficial P.E curriculum that instils a love of fun and fitness in the children. Students also learn Mandarin (as LOTE) in all classes.
The school has a strong focus on developing Literacy and Numeracy skills and great range of subjects that allows children to develop their creativity.
‘We give students a balanced curriculum with all subjects, giving students a chance to shine in one or more areas,’ Learning Specialist, Kim Kirkpatrick said.
The school social competencies philosophy is based on Wilson McCaskill’s ‘Play is The Way.’ It is founded on the idea that children learn best through play, one of our main focuses is to develop Empathy in children.
Everyone is encouraged to Be Your Best at Bendigo Violet Street Primary School.
Hard copies of the 2021 Foundation enrolment booklet were supplied to Kindergartens and ELCs prior to the End of Term 1.

Enrolment updates for our 2021 Foundation students and families
We have made some adaptations to our 2021 Transition processes. Families will have already received an email about this.
Please note the following updates:
We have made some booklets about Starting School at Bendigo Violet St PS in 2021 and distributed them (with some school uniforms for dramatic play too!) to our Kindergartens and Early Learning Centres to share with the children.
We have posted you a personal copy of the booklet to share at home too. We hope you enjoy sharing this together!
Our Foundation teachers (Rachel Quarrier and Nicole Lowe) have already commenced making contact with Kindergarten and Early Learning Centre teachers to arrange visits to meet your child (this may be virtually or on – site) and introduce themselves too.
We will also offer you some 1:1 individual WebEx sessions or telephone link ups, to meet you all as families also. We will make contact with you (via email or text) about a good time to catch up.
We will still proceed with the Getting Ready for School 2021 information session for all parents. It will be via WebEx on Thursday 15th October at 7- 7:45pm. Please contact school for room details if needed.
The November to December designated Transition dates will still proceed. These were planned for Tuesday 17th Nov, 24/11, 1/12 and 8/12. **However these sessions will now need to be via WebEx sessions individually or in small groups or with further on – site visits by Rachel and Nicole to Kinders and ELCs. We will let you know dates and times, once Term 4 resumes.
**Please email or phone if you have any questions, please. Thanks again for your flexibility and we are looking forward to working with you, to help your child have a positive start to Foundation in 2021 at Bendigo Violet St PS.
